The Barbary Coast Armchair Scavenger Hunt and Trivia Unathlon is played over the course of an afternoon from the comfort of your very own home. You will be competing with teams playing simultaneously from their homes (which may be more or less comfortable than yours).

You will be presented with a new list of challenges every half-hour, some of which you'll have 30 minutes to solve, and some trickier ones you'll have until the end of the contest to figure out. Successful teams bring to bear creative thinking, detective skills, the odd bit of knowledge and a sense of humor to come out on top.
he scavenger hunt is entirely over the telephone.
You never have to venture outside your front door. For each item, you will be given a mysterious and cryptic clue, from which you will need to determine what the item is. Once you know the item's identity you must locate the item by phone; that is by calling friends, relatives, stores, your sixth-grade gym teacher, or anyone else you think might have the item. Once you have found the item by phone, you get points for that item. In order to prove that you actually found it there will be a special identifying piece of information about the item you will have to provide.
he trivia challenges are of an unusual kind.
You don't need to be a trivia geek to solve the questions. Many of them are more about creative thinking than arcane knowledge. Persistence, an open mind, and a willingness to go without snack breaks will serve you much better than a childhood spent watching Partridge Family reruns.
All you need to play is a telephone and access to the web.
